Individual Counselling

Areas of Focus

I have been a part of the mental health industry for almost a decade, while being a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 2021. I have worked largely with clients who have experienced trauma. My work revolved around relational trauma- such as sexual abuse, physical abuse, childhood trauma and interpersonal violence. The umbrella term of trauma, covers the following concerns i can support you with:

  • Grief and loss is a big part of our lives, more than we realize. Whether you’ve lost a loved one, parts of yourself because of trauma, or the future you’d hoped for, we work with a grief lens honouring and grieving the versions of you, you’ve lost.

  • “Trauma is not what happens to you; it is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you…” famously defined by Gabor Mate. Trauma is not the event. We use the three phase approach to first create safety for you, then enough space to process the trauma and finally working on integration and connection.

  • Often casually used, we work to understand the role depression plays in your life and explore its utilities and its hinderance in your life. We then explore tools which you’ve been using as well as some new ones to add to your tool kit.

  • Whether its a meeting at work, or approaching crowded places- anxiety shows up in different places for different people. We work with anxiety on a cognitive level trying to understand it, and also with body-based practical strategies that you can incorporate into your routine.

  • Stress is most of our middle names. The world we live in, life wothotu stress feels like a fantasy. We use a holistic perspective in tackling, reducing or managing your stress and stressors through this process.

  • Living in a go-go-go world burnout is part of our lives in more ways than we recognize. We work on identifying burnout and explore self-care practices that may be helpful to your life.

  • Cultural integration is part of our globalized world; however, no one ever said it was easy. Trying to maintain your cultural identity while acclimatizing to a new culture can be conflicting and difficult in many ways. We explore and work through the changing parts of you and confronting the hardships that come with being an immigrant

  • Contemplating or recently been through a life transition? Some transitions we choose, and some are imposed on us. The loss of agency and control can be felt deeply and together we can help grieve, navigate and plan for the future- while trying to remain grounded in the present.

As a South Asian immigrant myself, I understand the struggles of moving countries and the loss of identity that surrounds the transition. Supporting my community and accompanying them on this journey, providing them an avenue to discuss, learn and explore new nooks and crannies in this phase, would be an honour.
